9月26日 The Thrillhammers LIVE at The Downtown Kitchen Saturday September 27thWe hope you can all come out to our favorite venue and join us for what may be our last show for a while as we're goin back in to the studio to record our next CD. http://www.downtownkitchen.comWe're gonna start at 9:00PM and do a long set, then we're gonna bring out our old friend Redneck GReece to finish out the night. Redneck GReece learned his redneck ways while growing up in the North Georgia town of Ellijay. He experienced farm work, mountain religion, untaxed liquor, and music unlike that in big cities. Music with raw themes, heartfelt delivery, and a yearning for how it ought to be. 5月21日 Down-home music for BubbasDown-home music for Bubbas
By JON WATERHOUSE For accessAtlanta Published on: 05/22/2008 It's been 12 years since the late Gregory Dean Smalley put together the first Bubbapalooza music festival at Star Community Bar in Little Five Points. This homage to the redneck underground movement, featuring genres like alternative country and rockabilly, continues May 22-24. Expect 20 bands, including headliners Rocket 350, Robin Dean Salmon and Redneck Greece Deluxe. Redneck Greece (aka Greg Reece) has performed at most of the events, delivering songs like "Mama Was a Dancer at the Clermont Lounge." The tongue-in-cheek country troubadour recently spoke over the phone from Athens about returning to his "home away from home." How would you define Bubbapalooza? It showcases rural, redneck-type music, or bands with that attitude, anyway. Some of the bands aren't really twang-oriented but have people in them who know that corncobs came before toilet paper. Will you be playing new stuff or older material? We're going to get people to giggle a little bit with some of [the older songs]. And we have some new stuff coming in, too, that will hopefully stroke a feather on somebody there, get them mad at least. I got one song in particular, which we're going to see how it goes over. It's called "Come on in, Juan." We're going to tackle the immigration issue. It's not getting political or anything, but I guess I'm getting apolitical. I don't really know what that word means. I'm a hillbilly. What do you think about the Star Bar as a venue? Years ago, it was my home away from home. It's changed owners a couple of times since the old days. I haven't met the new [owners], but from what I'm seeing, they're off to a good start. They're putting on this Bubbapalooza with a nod to the old ways. I just always thought it was a nice, homey bar. ... Every time you went there, you were going to see someone you knew. I've been there as a patron more times than I have as a performer. It's always been a good neighborhood bar. Since I'm not living in the neighborhood anymore, it's kind of special to come back. What do you hope to get out of it? I'm just coming to have a good time. I'm not looking to get anything out of it. If I'm having fun, we're all having fun. And that's what Bubbapalooza is all about. ... It was never a big money-making venture. If you got gas money out of it, you were ahead of the game most of the time. In the past, it's always been a reunion of friends. 4月14日 The Thrillhammers @ The Downtown Kitchen May 17thShow starts at like 9:00PM. $5 cover

9月26日 Mucklewain 20072nd Annual Mucklewain Music Festival :: Sept 28 & 29 :: Pinewood, TN 9月17日 Robert Plant and Alison Krauss: Raising Sand, Coming 10/23/2007The musical collaboration of the decade, Raising Sand is the sound of two iconic figures stepping out of their respective comfort zones and letting their instincts lead them across a brave new sonic landscape. Despite hailing from distinctly different backgrounds, Alison Krauss and Robert Plant share a maverick spirit and willingness to extend the boundaries of their respective genres. This spirit, expertly honed by producer T Bone Burnett, has resulted in an album pitched three steps beyond some cosmic collision of early urban blues, spacious West Texas country, and the untapped potential of the folk-rock revolution. Supported by the unparalleled musicianship of Marc Ribot, Dennis Crouch, Mike Seeger, Jay Bellerose, Norman Blake, Greg Leisz, Patrick Warren, and Riley Baugus, Plant and Krauss - as both solo and harmony vocalists - tackle an intriguing selection of songs from such tunesmiths as Tom Waits, Gene Clark, Sam Phillips, Townes Van Zandt, The Everly Brothers, and Mel Tillis. Raising Sand finds Robert Plant and Alison Krauss exploring popular music's elemental roots while still sounding effortlessly, breath-takingly contemporary. 5月7日 OFF THE BEATEN PATH TOUR @ Progressive SkateparkComing May 12th...
The Off The Beaten Path Tour will be here on Saturday May 12th. 4月25日 Spinal Tap to Reunite!Spinal Tap is back, and this time the band wants to help save the world from global warming.
The mock heavy metal group immortalized in the 1984 mockumentary, "This is Spinal Tap," will reunite for a performance at Wembley Stadium in London as part of the Live Earth concerts scheduled worldwide for July 7.
The original members of Spinal Tap will be there: guitarist Nigel Tufnel (played by Christopher Guest), singer David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean) and bassist Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer). Rob Reiner, who both directed "This is Spinal Tap" and played the fake documentarian Marty DeBergi in the film, will also be in attendance.
A new 15-minute film directed by Reiner on the band's reunion will also play at the opening night of the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on Wednesday. The slate for the opening gala, to be hosted by Al Gore, was previously announced, excepting the Reiner short.
The festival is to open with a showing of several global warming-themed short films produced by the SOS (Save Our Selves) campaign. SOS is also putting on the Live Earth concerts, to be held across seven continents.
Reiner spoke to The Associated Press on Tuesday to explain the reunion of Spinal Tap — a band always known more as a parody of rock `n roll excess than environmental awareness.
"They're not that environmentally conscious, but they've heard of global warming," said Reiner, whose other films include "When Harry Met Sally" and "Stand By Me." "Nigel thought it was just because he was wearing too much clothing — that if he just took his jacket off it would be cooler."
Spinal Tap has reunited several times since the film, but hasn't for a number of years. For the band — whose last album was 1992's "Break like the Wind" — the occasion warranted a new single: "Warmer Than Hell."
Reiner provided a sneak peak at the lyrics: "The devil went to Devon, it felt like the fourth degree/ He said, `Is it hot in here, or is it only me?'"
The director said the new short film explains what the band has been doing with their lives lately. Nigel has been raising miniature horses to race, but can't find jockeys small enough to ride them; David is now a hip-hop producer who also runs a colonic clinic; and Derek is in rehab for addiction to the Internet.
Reiner, 60, has for over 20 years worked with the National Resources Defense Council, an environmental action organization. Though the Spinal Tap reunion will be a lot of laughs, he hopes the SOS short films program and the Live Earth concerts have a substantial effect.
"What I think is going to be nice about this whole effort is there will be marching orders for people," said Reiner. "Not only from a personal standpoint of what individuals can do in their lives, but a macro perspective with respect to the public sector and government." 4月24日 Victor Wooten Concert - Variety Playhouse - 4/21/07My son Spencer, his friend Sean and myself got tickets and headed down to Little 5 Points to The Variety Playhouse Saturday night. I'm not sure what was going on in L5P but it was PACKED. We rode around the block looking for parking when none other than crosses the street right in front of us. It was a great show. Joe here... Hotlanta. Was a great show really. The crowd was one of the better crowds we have played to in the States this year. Although the venue was REALLY hot, the vibe in the room was great. The bulk of us are sitting in the front lounge of our tour bus listening back to the show. We get around to doing that every once in awhile. I get burned out from the show sometimes and in order to keep it fresh, I choose not to listen back to the shows after they are done. But tonight there was some really entertaining things that happened. Denny Walley sat in with us during the Terry Bozzio portion of the program and listening to him play slide guitar on “Advance Romance” was like putting the needle on the record of “Bongo Fury”. The “Pound For A Brown” improvisation section was really fun, great playing by this band which proves night after night how talented they really are. Tonight I noticed that a lot of different types of people are identifying with this music. I see women dancing in their seats, singing words to “I’m The Slime”. I see young kids jumping up and down when we start “Inca Roads”. I see hardcore fans giving their friends high-fives after guitar solos. It’s really great to watch it all happening from where I sit.
With “Trance-Fusion” finally out, both MOFO’s being released this month, Frank’s birthday rapidly approaching, and the ZPZ Xmas run in full stride, there is a lot of FZ energy in the air. I’m sure feelin’ it.
Off to bed, we are about to enter show 4 of 5 in a row. Brutal. See ya.

12月12日 MRI machine ExplodesTwo injured when moving MRI machineI got called out by my company to check out this accident. Contrary to the official report the explosion was caused by dropping the vacuum back with shop air while the vessel was still cold, then sealing it back off. Associated PressKENNESAW, Ga. - Two people were injured when an MRI machine they were moving at a medical office exploded from a mix of chemicals inside, officials said. The workers for Turnkey Medical Engineering Inc. were moving the Magnetic Resonance Imaging scanner at Atlanta Diagnostics Center when helium and liquid nitrogen combined to blast the end bell off the device, said firefighter Denell Boyd of the Cobb County Fire Department. One had shrapnel in the back of the head and the other an injured arm, and they were taken to the hospital although the injuries were not considered serious, Boyd said. The sheetrock on an inside wall was damaged but the structure, a one-story building in an office complex, was sound, she said. Boyd said officials believed 500 liters of liquid nitrogen remained inside the tank, but they were unsure because a gauge was broken. 10月9日 Fort MountainIf you ever have a chance, visit Fort Mountain State Park.
